Obama Mentor Preckwinkle May Challenge Emanuel for Chicago Mayor

Barack Obama owes much of his early political rise to Preckwinkle. She supported his campaign for state senate in 1996, and his doomed congressional run in 2000. She even takes credit for encouraging him to join Jeremiah Wright's radical church. The New Yorker quoted her in 2008: "'It’s a church that would provide you with lots of social connections and prominent parishioners,' she said. 'It’s a good place for a politician to be a member.'"     >>> article

The Hebdomadal Chesterton

“A wall of pebbles” If the mass of citizens are to rule, it is absolutely necessary that they should have very strong common principles of thought. Where the State is ruled by a few wills (as of a king or nobles) its action and unity is preserved by the mere helplessness of the other parts. But if it is to be ruled by a great number of wills, these must have had some standard which they regard as orthodoxy, or, at least, as common sense. That is behind the half-truth of those who say that art and science (at least the wilder sorts) flourish better under an aristocracy. A certain sort of looseness cannot be permitted in a democracy. A wall can be built of large loose rocks, because there are few of them. But if you want to build a wall of pebbles you must have a very strong cement. – The Illustrated London News , 13 January 1912.

Why would we want to have a president that might look like this?

Comcast + Time Warner = ?

by DaveWI I was going through the articles at Lucianne.com and this one caught my eye , Comcast and Time Warner have agreed to merge.  At first glance, without knowing anything about the deal, it seems to me that this is not going to be not good for the consumer.  Then, my fertile brain, started to work and I commenced to project into the future. We now have a president who some people call some kind of socialist or more likely a ‘corporist’. A Corporist is a leader who allows corporations to exit in a market economy but unlike most corporations who are controlled, for the most part, by the stock holders  this corporist controls the decisions the corporate make.  If the country only has a very few gigantically large corporations which a leader totally controls then he totally controls the economy of the said country.  If this merger is allowed to happen it would create a huge communication entity which would have very little competition.   Thinking ...

It’s a Women Thing

via P J Media . . . like many women, I have an illogical soft-spot for massive jerks. There is something about bad boys that we find incredibly appealing, even though we often regret the experience afterwards. I’m so drawn to their powerful/sensitive/artistic (delete as applicable) natures that it allows me to rationalise away their abusive, selfish, sarcastic or psychopathic side, until it’s too late. I don’t know whether it’s chemistry or foolishness on my part, but let me try to explain why we – or at least I – do it. Caroline Kent writes:

What a very Disturbing Man. How does a man come to these nonsensical ideas and conclusions. I am tempted to look further into Wally Shawn to try to understand how a man could think this way.
